Why Does Everyone Feel a Bit Off Right Now & What Does It Mean For Your Star Sign?

There’s a subtle shift happening at the moment. Not dramatic enough to name, but noticeable enough that everyone seems to be feeling it. Whilst we can’t ignore the weight of the world right now, and we try to distract ourselves celebrating sunshine and longer days, conversations still feel slightly flatter and our patience is that bit shorter. Moods are dipping in and out, yes you did just snap at her for no reason. The general tone, collectively, is somewhere between tired, irritable and “I’m in a funk”.

It would be easy to write this off as coincidence. But is there, in fact, a pattern beneath it?

The In-Between Season

We’ve just passed the spring equinox. A moment of perfect balance between light and dark that, in theory, signals renewal. In the real world, the body doesn’t experience it as a clean switch. It experiences it as a recalibration.

After months of shorter days, lower light exposure and slower rhythms, the sudden extension of daylight begins to shift the circadian system. Cortisol begins to rise earlier. Melatonin release adjusts. Serotonin, influenced by light exposure, starts to increase. Energy should begin to lift, but often, there is a lag where we haven’t quite caught up with nature (or our inboxes for that matter).

This creates a temporary mismatch. The environment is moving forward, but the body is still catching up. The result is a slightly disorientating state. Not quite winter, not quite spring. Not fully rested, not yet energised.

The Nervous System Catch-Up

There is also a quieter, less discussed layer. For many, winter becomes a period of low-grade survival. Less light, reduced movement, increased screen time and the pressure of a new year often lead to a nervous system that is more taxed than it appears.

When things begin to lighten, both literally and metaphorically, the body often takes that as a signal that it is safe enough to process what has been put on hold.

This can show up as low mood, irritability or a sense of emotional heaviness that seems to arrive without a clear reason. Psychologically, humans tend to feel most unsettled not during the hardest periods, but during transitions. We are no longer in the depth of winter, but we are not yet fully in the momentum of spring. That in-between space can feel surprisingly uncomfortable.

There is a pull towards change. A sense that things should be moving, improving, shifting. Alongside a very real desire to stay slow, to conserve energy, to not quite engage yet. Which is why - whilst we’re happy it’s lighter in the evenings, we’re also still craving cosy nights and movies. That internal contradiction often translates into frustration.

Is There A Cosmic Layer Too?

“There’s something in the cosmos’ - overheard in the girls group chat.

Alongside the biology, there is also a cultural and symbolic lens that many people intuitively tune into. The spring equinox marks the beginning of Aries season, the first sign of the zodiac. Astrologically, this is considered the start of a new cycle. A reset point associated with action, momentum and forward movement.

Interestingly, this mirrors what we see physiologically. Increased light exposure nudges cortisol earlier, dopamine begins to rise, and motivation slowly returns. The body is, quite literally, being primed for action. But before that momentum fully lands, there is often a clearing. If you wonder why practitioners talk about a ‘spring cleanse’ this is the rationale.

Endings tend to cluster around this time. Emotional residue surfaces. People reassess relationships, routines and direction. It can feel like a subtle shedding before the push forward. In psychological terms, this mirrors a process of cognitive and emotional reorganisation. In astrological language, it’s a threshold. And thresholds rarely feel comfortable. They feel uncertain, charged, and slightly raw.

Your March Reset, Sign by Sign According To Astrologers

Aries
A return to self, but not without friction. You’re being asked to slow down just enough to choose direction, not just momentum.

Taurus
A quieter month internally. Old patterns around comfort and control are surfacing, not to disrupt you, but to be softened.

Gemini
Your social world is shifting. Notice who energises you and who drains you. Not everyone is coming with you into this next chapter.

Cancer
Career, purpose, visibility. There’s movement here, but it may come with emotional weight. Growth is asking you to be seen.

Leo
A pull toward expansion. Travel, learning or a new perspective is calling, but it requires leaving behind an outdated version of yourself.

Virgo
Deeper layers are being stirred. Finances, intimacy, boundaries. This is less about control and more about trust.

Libra
Relationships are under the spotlight. Not necessarily breaking, but recalibrating. What feels aligned now may look different to before.

Scorpio
Your routines are shifting. Health, habits, structure. Small daily changes are quietly redefining your overall direction.

Sagittarius
Creativity and pleasure are trying to come back online. But first, you may need to move through a slight emotional block.

Capricorn
Home, stability, foundations. There’s a restructuring happening beneath the surface, even if it hasn’t fully materialised yet.

Aquarius
Your mind is busy, but clarity comes from simplifying. Communication, decisions, direction. Less noise, more intention.

Pisces
A transition out of your season and into something more grounded. Themes around self-worth, money and value are asking for attention.

The Collective Mood

Perhaps what makes this moment feel more pronounced is that it is shared. When many people are moving through the same physiological and psychological transition at once, it creates a collective tone. Conversations carry it. Social interactions reflect it. Even digital spaces begin to feel slightly heavier.

What To Do About Shaking It Off

Rather than trying to override this phase, the more effective approach is to work with it.

From a physiological perspective, this is a time to gently support the circadian shift. Morning light exposure within the first hour of waking can help anchor cortisol rhythms and improve energy stability. Prioritising protein and stable blood sugar early in the day reduces the irritability that often accompanies this transition. Magnesium glycinate in the evening, electrolytes and mineralised water throughout the day to ensure adequate hydration can also support the nervous system as it recalibrates.

From a behavioural perspective, it is less about pushing harder and more about reducing friction. Short walks, slightly earlier nights, and lower stimulation in the evening help the body catch up to the season it is entering.

And from a psychological, even symbolic perspective, this is a moment to allow for reassessment. Not every feeling needs to be solved. Some simply need to be processed. The shift into spring is not always immediate brightness. Sometimes, it begins with a quiet unraveling.

And often, that is exactly what is required for things to come back online, more clearly, a few weeks later.
