The Well Edit Guide To Wellness In Sydney

It’s safe to say Sydney does wellness differently. Perhaps that’s easier to do with better weather, but here it feels like it'sits genuinely just built into everyday life. It’s very much about the 5-9am, not the 9-5 workday. Mornings are when the city feels most alive. Sunrise swims, walks, runs and smoothie stops before the day properly gets going.

But like any city known for its wellness scene, not every place lives up to the promise. Beautiful studios can lack substance. Smoothie menus can look impressive but deliver little more than fruit and ice. And not every “wellness café” actually leaves you feeling better when you leave. So while exploring Sydney, I kept a running list of the places that genuinely stood out.

How we chose these wellness spots

Some were recommended by friends who have lived here for years. Others I discovered while planning the trip. And a few were simply the result of following the local crowd once we arrived. What they all have in common is intention. Studios with great instructors and a strong atmosphere. Cafés where the ingredients actually matter. Spaces designed for slowing down, resetting or moving your body in a way that feels genuinely good.

The result is a mix of Pilates studios, recovery spaces, cafés and markets that together capture the relaxed but deeply ingrained wellness culture Sydney does so well. These are all the kinds of places that make you feel like you’re living the Bondi lifestyle, even if it’s only for a few days.

  1. COMMON SUPPLY

Erewhon inspired, this was the one spot I simply couldn’t stay away from. Built around smoothies, vibrant field trays and seriously good coffee, it’s the kind of place that makes eating well feel effortless and taste genuinely good. Think nutrient-dense smoothies, colourful trays and ingredients chosen to support energy rather than leave you sluggish. Everything feels thoughtfully balanced, but still relaxed and unfussy. The concept is simple. Good food, made properly and served quickly, which explains why it’s such a hit with the busy, active Bondi crowd.

It quickly became a daily stop and I somehow managed seven visits in five days. Pretty impressive I thought. Smoothies before classes, a quick lunch in between plans and even a takeaway dinner one evening that we took down to the beach to watch the sunset.

Our order: The Common Gains Smoothie (with banana, cashew butter plant protein, almond milk, medjool dates, maca, lucuma, cinnamon and sea salt). It packed an impressive 35g protein and was the perfect post-class treat. Also try the Iced Mushroom Cacao with reishi mushroom, cinnamon and coconut milk. Oh, and do get some of the Cool Medjool Dates.

Address: 182 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach

2. Studio Mouvoir

When it comes to reformer Pilates, make this a must. Known for its dynamic classes, Studio Mouvoir pairs strong technique with seriously good energy. Set on a rooftop in Surry Hills, the space instantly feels different. Early morning sun pouring through the windows, tall ceilings and a gentle breeze moving through the studio create the kind of environment that makes getting up for a morning class surprisingly appealing. Expect creative sequences, good music and uplifting instructors who know exactly how to push you… in the best way.

I took two classes, Progressive and Signature, and loved both. A real burn, a proper sweat and that satisfying post-class glow where you feel both exhausted and completely energised. Do grab a coffee from Paramount on the ground floor on your way out too.

Our class: Signature & Progressive Reformer

Address: Rooftop, Paramount Building, 80 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills

3. 38 bathhouse

If recovery is on the agenda, head straight here. A luxury underground bathhouse designed around hot and cold therapy, it was created for deep relaxation and full body reset. The space brings together magnesium spa pools, sauna, steam, cold plunge and infrared suites, encouraging you to move between heat and cold to boost circulation, calm the nervous system and leave feeling noticeably restored.

We visited on our last afternoon before a late-night flight home and it turned out to be the perfect pre-travel ritual. A slow circuit between sauna and cold plunge followed by a long shower left us feeling far more relaxed than the usual airport rush. I even managed the ice bath, not normally my favourite activity, and felt surprisingly great afterwards. The whole place has a calm, unhurried energy that makes it very easy to settle in and switch off.

Our session: 90-minute Bathhouse Experience

Address: The Pacific Building, Level B1, 180 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach

4. Chiswick

A garden-led restaurant with a planted-to-plate philosophy? I was sold before we even arrived. With seasonal produce grown in the kitchen garden driving the entire menu, many of the vegetables served are often harvested that very morning. All of the dishes spotlight the best ingredients of the season, with cooking that simply lets the produce speak for itself.

The setting is as beautiful as the food too. Super relaxed, it’s the perfect place for a long dinner where you actually take time to enjoy what’s on the table. The staff also deserve a special shout out. Clearly passionate about their ethos, they were genuinely enthusiastic about talking us through the dishes and where everything had come from, even giving recommendations too. This really did tick every box.

Our order: The Collective Set Menu - four courses which included snapper, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, market fish and the most divine salted caramel semifreddo with seasonal berries.

Address: 65 Ocean St, Woollahra

5. FORME BY SOPHIE DULAC

Specialising in lymphatic drainage to help reduce fluid retention, support circulation and leave you feeling noticeably lighter, I booked this a few weeks before and I am SO glad I did. After a 25-hour flight it was exactly what my body needed. It worked wonders for my bloating, water retention and that sluggish post-travel feeling I couldn’t shake.

Their approach is holistic, blending sculpting techniques with traditional drainage methods to really help the body reset and rebalance. It was deeply relaxing but also genuinely helpful, with my therapist sharing a few simple at-home tips to support lymph flow at home too.

Our treatment: the 60-minute Lymph Sculpt

Address: 1/300 Campbell Parade, North Bondi

6. CALI PRESS

Another cafe I found myself returning to more than once, Cali Press, was born in Sydney but inspired by the wellness culture of Southern California, bringing that laid-back surf-meets-wholefood mindset to its menu. Everything here is built around real food made from scratch, with nothing artificial. Think warm bowls, salads, juices, smoothies, coffees and plenty of refined sugar-free treats. I even ended up bulk buying their stuffed dates and brownies to bring home as well as stocked up on some of my fave Loco Love chocolates.

It works just as well as a quick grab-and-go for beach days as it does for a casual sit-down. Expect plenty of locals tapping away on laptops too. With several across Sydney, there always seemed to be one nearby whenever I needed something quick that still felt genuinely nourishing.

Our order: Cali Harvest Bowl, PB and Choc Protein Smoothie and the Salted Pecan Brownie.

** Editor’s note - this was Eleanor’s go to when travelling in Sydney on business. Opting for either their grilled tofu sandwich for some comfort indulgence and always finishing with a Loco Love Chocolate.

7. BODY BY BERNER

This studio had been recommended by a few different people before my trip, so I knew it was worth checking out. WIht a mix of Pilates, yoga, breathwork and meditation, the focus here is on movement that feels good.  I booked into the Power Burn class, a 45-minute mat session combining HIIT, strength and conditioning and it certainly lived up to its name. The music was great and so was the female-powered energy in the room. This is definitely the kind of workout you’ll still feel a few days later. At the end of class we were handed a small mantra card which was a nice touch that perfectly sums up their whole mind and body approach.

8. HARRIS FARM MARKETS

This is Sydney’s answer to Whole Foods, but with a distinctly Aussie feel. Somewhere between a farmers’ market and a supermarket, it’s the kind of place you plan to quickly pop in to but end up wandering down every aisle.

Family owned for more than 50 years, the focus here is on seasonal produce, local suppliers and ingredients that celebrate what’s in harvest right now. The shelves are stacked with fruit and vegetables, interesting finds and plenty of things you didn’t know you needed.

A few friends who live in Sydney told me it’s a common life goal to want to do your full weekly shop here and I can fully see why.

9. HARRY’S

Harry’s is one of Bondi’s long-standing cafés and very much part of the locals’ daily rhythm after early morning coastal walks or sunrise swims. Open since 1997, it has that rare balance of feeling established yet still effortlessly cool. The atmosphere is relaxed, the coffee is reliably good and the breakfast menu is great. We stopped in after the Coogee to Bondi sunrise walk and couldn’t quite believe how busy it was at 6am. That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about how loved it is locally.

Our order: Strawberry Iced Matcha

Address: 2/136 Wairoa Ave, Bondi Beach

10. SARANA

For something slower and more restorative, Sarana is the spot. One of the few studios in Bondi offering infrared-heated classes, the warmth adds a deeply calming element that makes evening sessions feel especially grounding. I struggled to choose which class to try but went with SmartFlow - a gentle and breath-led sequence that worked on strength, flexibility and balance without feeling rushed or intense. Heated to 30°C, it really helped me properly release and unwind. Post-class I felt calmer, clearer and more centred which are all things I’ve been trying to chase more when it comes to movement.

Our class: SmartFlow

Address: 4 Jaques Ave, Bondi Beach
