Dr amy vowler
Dr. Amy Vowler is a dual-trained NHS General Practitioner and hair restoration specialist, and the founder of Hair GP, her London clinic. After ten years working across NHS surgeries and hospitals, she kept meeting the same gap in care: hair loss treated as a cosmetic afterthought, or as a symptom nobody had time to properly investigate. Hair GP is the alternative, a medically-led approach to hair and scalp health, for the women and men whose hair loss had, until now, gone under-explained.
Her approach starts with a full medical assessment rather than a product recommendation: hormones, scalp condition and everyday habits, examined before any treatment plan is written. From there, care is tailored rather than templated, drawing on medical, injectable and surgical options depending on what's actually driving the hair loss, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Her particular interest is hormonal health - guiding women through PCOS, perimenopause and menopause, and the hair changes that come with each. It's work that sits at the meeting point of trichology and general medicine, two disciplines that, in her experience, are almost never in the same conversation.
She's a member of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery, holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Hair Science, and has trained further afield too - the ISHRS Basics Course, and mentorships with Professor Gambino in Italy and Dr Nicole Rogers in New Orleans. She still practises as an NHS GP alongside running Hair GP, which she treats less as a side note than as the whole point: general medicine and hair restoration, done by the same person, properly.
